Matera Cocktails First

Cocktails with a View: Crialoss
Crialoss is a hidden gem and the perfect place to unwind with a cocktail in hand. Perched on a panoramic terrace overlooking the iconic Sassi, it offers one of the most breathtaking views in Matera — especially at sunset. You don’t need to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy it. We stumbled upon it by chance and were so glad we did. The bruschetta and cocktails were top-notch, and the relaxed, scenic setting made it even more memorable. If you’re searching for a stylish terrace with a stunning view over Matera, Crialoss is a must. I highly recommend!

Ai Palmenti – Matera’s Hidden Culinary Cave

Tucked into a quiet alley in Matera’s historic center, Ai Palmenti provides an unforgettable dining experience. It is located inside a centuries-old cave. This cave was once a church and wine cellar. The stone walls, soft lighting, and vaulted ceilings create an intimate, atmospheric setting that’s pure Matera magic.
The menu celebrates Lucanian tradition. Think orecchiette with sausage and crispy peperoni cruschi. Desserts like tiramisù are all made with local ingredients and modern flair. Service is warm and attentive, and while it’s a bit hard to find, that only adds to the charm.
San Giovanni Osteria

We stumbled upon this restaurant and couldn’t be happier! The cave-like ambience was unique and cozy, prices were fair, and the food was outstanding. We had one of the best cod fish dishes ever, delicious pasta, and a heavenly Dolce Lupo dessert. Our waiter was sooo nice, and the wine list was impressive.
Tierra Osteria Contemporanea

One evening, we had a delicious dinner at Tierra. From the moment we arrived, the setting was stunning. Not to mention, a breathtaking terrace view. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. As for the food, every dish was bursting with flavor. In particular, I had the best gazpacho I’ve ever tasted. There was also a mind-blowing strawberry basil dessert with sweet dried wasabi. To be sure, the pastas were heavenly, the service was top-notch, and the creativity in each plate truly stood out.
Matera Hotels

Corte San Pietro is located on one of the main streets in Matera, Via Bruno Buozzi. It is more than just a chic boutique hotel since the staff is exceptional, and breakfast is wonderful. Moreover, it is tucked into the ancient heart of Matera’s Sassi district. Mornings typically begin with a generous breakfast of fresh local cheeses, fruits, pastries, and Matera’s famous bread. This delightful spread is served in an elegant room accompanied by a live pianist. Meanwhile, each of the suites is a unique cave room, tastefully decorated to reflect the city’s rich heritage. All in all, staying here feels less like a hotel and more like an experience — earthy, elegant, and unforgettable.
